Bloom in the Dark

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Romans 5:1-5

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”

2 Corinthians 4:8-10

“The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”

Luke 8:14,15

This piece symbolizes the beauty, strength and nobility that comes from persevering through pain and hardships as the heart stays close to Jesus. This relationship is the only one that assures this seed will Bloom in the Dark.

Craspedia Globosa Seeds are one of my favorite flowers. They are these subtle wildflower-looking golden globes propped uprightly and so demand attention. As I positioned them against the dark grey slated canvas, I knew they represented Hope, Growth and Glory.

Seeds represent the hope of the new flowers to bloom. It’s in the dark where God prepares the heart and begins to transform. It’s in the valley where training and growth occur. Maturity comes forth through pain and suffering. If we are yielded to the process of growth, then we are better than we were last year, last month,...yesterday. Every lesson learned roots and grows you while being amongst the forces that wish to pluck you out or the life changes that are needed to show you who God is and who you are. As you remain steadfast in His Life Giving Waters, you will always bloom in the dark.
